How it works
This calculator applies a percentage discount to the original price, then adds sales tax on top of the discounted amount — the way most retail checkouts calculate it. It shows the final price you'll pay, how much you saved from the discount, and how much tax was added, all updating live as you type. Discount percentages are clamped between 0 and 100 so you can't accidentally enter an invalid value. Useful for comparing sale prices, estimating a checkout total before you buy, or double-checking a receipt.

FAQ
Does the discount apply before or after tax?
The discount is applied first, then sales tax is calculated on the discounted price — the same order most retail checkouts use.
Can I stack multiple discounts?
This tool applies one discount percentage. To stack discounts, calculate the first discount, then re-enter the resulting price as the new "original price" for the second discount.
Why is my discount capped at 100%?
A discount over 100% would mean a negative price, which isn't meaningful for this calculation, so the input is capped between 0 and 100%.
